In January, I had the honor of conducting my final seasonal concert with @everyvoicechoirs. I’m grateful for my five years with this incredible organization. No better place to grow as a choir director and to uplift the young voices of New York City. I’m especially privileged to have helped EVC grow into one of our city’s premier choral organizations. We’ve had a beautiful ride – conducting at Merkin Hall, Plaza Hotel, Riverside Church and beyond. This is not the end. Thank you, EVC!

Highlights from an incredible afternoon hosting @fairforall_arts’ fundraiser in the Pacific Palisades last weekend.

We’re building a new arts infrastructure. We’re artists, thought leaders, and freethinkers paving the off-ramp from the climate of divisive identity politics, groupthink, and censorship that has been suffocating the arts & entertainment for years. We’re united in our vision to reclaim a common culture of free expression, viewpoint diversity, excellence, and humanity.

On November 2nd, over sixty of us came together in Los Angeles to lay the foundation for this vision. It was a remarkable, inspiring success.

I am proud to lead @fairforall_org’s efforts at the forefront of this movement in the arts. We’ve launched a grant, directory, essay series, and community events – and we’re only getting started.

Grateful to Monica Harris @monicaharrisunplugged, Michelle Pollino @michellepollino, Clifton Duncan @cliftonduncanonline, Julie Eicher Aguilar @julie.eicher.aguilar, and MANY more for helping make this event a success. Last month, I had the pleasure of conducting the Hunter College Elementary School Choir in an uplifting spring concert with @everyvoicechoirs at the historic Riverside Theater. Our concert closed out my third year directing this choral program, based at the exact same Manhattan campus where I attended high school.

I am continually inspired by my students’ professionalism, aptitude, and dedication to vocal excellence. These kids make me proud to be a choral educator. It was an honor to share the stage with my wonderful longtime colleagues Nicole Becker and Natalie Gray.

Congratulations to all choirs for a beautiful performance and kudos on a great year!

It was an honor to moderate @jonathanhaidt and the @coddlingmovie team in a superb discussion about the state of the American mind, as we celebrated The Coddling Movie’s official NYC premiere.

Congratulations to @courtneybalaker and Ted Balaker on the HUGE success of this seminal documentary in partnership with @substack. The Coddling of the American Mind continues to be as relevant in 2024 as it was in 2018, when I first read it as a college senior. Truly a full circle moment!

Five years ago – March 25th, 2019 – I made my conducting debut at @carnegiehall, having led the world premiere of my composition “Fell Swoop” with the Columbia University Wind Ensemble.

What a remarkable evening of music-making it was. Nothing compares with the feeling of stepping up to the podium on that historic stage. I was honored to share it with my mentor @jnobleband and the brilliant composers Omar Thomas and Cathy Likhuta.

Five years later – March 24th, 2024 – I directed the Columbia Pep Band @culionsband in concert at the Annual Columbia Festival of Winds. This festival, organized by my wonderful colleague and @cuwindensemble Director Jasmine Britt, saw my original composer-conductor debut in 2017. Talk about coming full circle!
